There was a time when you only needed a SSL Certificate if your site sold products or services and collected Credit Card information. Google is now shaming your site if you do not have a SSL Certificate. Chrome will begin to flag your site as “Not Secure”.  Google has been aiming toward making the web a safer place by encouraging all website owners to use the HTTS protocol that ensures the data sent from your computer to the site you are browsing is secure and encrypted.

With the release of Chrome 68, Google will mark all sites without SSL as “Not Secure”. This can also impact the visits to your site. SEO experts have been encouraging clients to add SSL to their sites for the past 3 years. In addition to added security for your site there are SEO advantages. Google gives websites with encrypted connections a slight rankings boost. It may not be substantial but having the SSL will give you an advantage over your competitors who don’t have certificates.

A huge benefit of SSL Certificates is the credibility and trust you will gain with your visitors. Don’t risk having your visitors think your site isn’t safe.

How do I get a SSL Certificate?

  • If you are one of our hosting clients we can set up your SSL Certificate for $35*. This is a one-time fee.
  • If you are hosting with another company, start by contacting them to see if they offer an easy solution. Should you need help setting up the certificate we charge $75*.

* This is for a shared SSL using Cloudflare. If you sell products you will need a dedicated domain SSL Certificate.
